Changes in the Avangard goaltending tandem

Avangard Hockey Club and goaltender Simon Hrubec have concluded an agreement on termination of the contract at the hockey player’s initiative. Our club reserves its KHL rights to the goaltender.

Avangard Hockey Club has signed goaltender Stanislav Galimov to a one-year contract.

Last season, Galimov played 46 regular season games for Kärpät in the Finnish League and earned 17 wins with a 2,42 goals-against average.

Alexey Volkov, Avangard General Manager:

- We admitted the possibility of such a scenario with Simon Hrubec, so we were working on several options, and right after Simon’s decision was announced, we activated one of them. Despite market deficiencies, we managed to sign a good goalie and we will have two equal goaltenders in the upcoming season. With his good season in Finland, Stanislav Galimov gave a fresh start for his career. In fact, he got a second wind: his solid performance in the regular season helped Kärpät clinch a playoff spot. His experience, positioning and skills are his strengths. He keeps a cool head in difficult situations and helps his team stay in the game. I believe that Stanislav is hundred percent ready to take his new chance in the KHL.
