Avangard signs Alex Broadhurst

Avangard Hockey Club has signed 29-year-old American forward Alex Broadhurst to a one-year contract.

The forward spent most of his career in the AHL, he played 416 games for different teams and scored 230 (83 + 147) points. In the 2015-2016 season, he won the main AHL trophy, the Calder Cup, with Lake Erie Monsters.

The last two seasons, Broadhurst played in Finland for HIFK: 101 games played, 18 goals, 60 assists.

Alexey Volkov, Avangard General Manager:

- We continue to reinforce our team with centermen before the upcoming season. When studying Broadhurst, we paid attention to his commitment to always be a team player. It is a significant factor for us. The coaches of the clubs Alex played for counted on him, he was often on ice for the last minutes of periods, for important face-offs, for decisive moments. He is a reliable center with a high order of game intelligence, a playmaker who knows how to lead and read the game. He also has playoff experience: winning the Calder Cup in the AHL is not easy at all. Broadhurst is the ideal second center for our team, in all respects, but the coaches will make the final decision on line combinations after the preseason training camp.
