Guy Boucher named Avangard Head Coach
Avangard Hockey Club has signed Canadian coach Guy Boucher to a contract through the 2025/26 season.
The 53-year-old coach is to come to Omsk and step behind the bench for the team in the first half of December.
All the coaching changes will be announced additionally. Sergei Zvyagin will act as the head coach until Guy Boucher arrives in Omsk.
Boucher started his coaching career in the late 90s in the QMJHL and QMAAA, where he worked as an assistant coach and head coach for various teams. In the 2009/10 season, he was appointed head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL), and then was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, he accepted an offer from the Swiss club Bern, where he worked until 2016. After that, he returned to the NHL and spent three seasons as the head coach of the Ottawa Senators (2016-2019). In the 2023/24 season, he was an assistant coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
