Sergei Zvyagin named Head Coach of Avangard

Sergei Zvyagin has been appointed Avangard’s Head Coach. He signed a two-year contract through the 2025/26 season.

Mikhail Averin, Avangard HC Board of Directors Chairman:

- Sergei Zvyagin was demonstrating excellent quality of work as Avangard’s goalie coach over a period of several years. All the players he worked with kept progressing and contributing to the success of the team. At a critical moment during the series against Lokomotiv, he agreed to become the Interim Head Coach and did everything possible to win. It wasn’t enough, but we all saw how Avangard’s game had changed, how the team stuck together. The combination of experience, passion for his work and emotions at the right moment showed us - Zvyagin is the very man Avangard needs behind the bench. He is respected by the team and fans, and he is ready take this step. On behalf of myself and the entire club, I would like to support Sergei Evgenievich and wish him good luck. The club will give him an all-out support. We are to get stronger in the offseason so as to accomplish ambitious goals.
