Cole Cassels joins Avangard!

Avangard Hockey Club has signed American center Cole Cassels to a one-year contract.

Last season, Cassels played 67 games for San Jose Barracuda in the AHL and scored 45 (11+34) points. The forward totals 486 games, 58 goals and 151 assists in the AHL.

Anton Kuryanov, Avangard General Manager:

- Over the past several months, we considered many centers playing in North America, did research, analyzed videos and held interviews. We decided on Cole Cassels because he is the best fit for our playing philosophy. A right-handed center, he knows how to play well in all the three zones, has solid experience and will become a good addition to Avangard’s centers. Besides that, Cassels has adequate contract expectations, which is critically important when building a salary cap compliant team. He knows Linden Vey and Reid Boucher personally, and it will help him get adjusted to the KHL quicker. He is fully ready to come to Russia and we believe that Cassels will make a name for himself in our League, like Corban Knight and Alex Broadhurst did earlier.

Cassels will be wearing number 21.
